Interests

We do the vast majority of our public-facing work through working groups. Here's a brief description of each of our current working groups:

• Disability Justice - building an accessibility map of the city of Baltimore, making activist spaces more accessible, and spreading political education on disability justice generally
• Electoral - electing socialists to public office and cultivating mutual accountability between politicians and the chapter
• Maryland Right to Strike - campaign to get public sector workers the right to strike by May Day 2028
• Palestine Solidarity - runs the Apartheid-Free Baltimore campaign, which is a local boycott against goods complicit in Israeli occupations
• Trans Rights & Bodily Autonomy - runs the Sanctuary Maryland campaign focused on protecting the groups targeted for violence and repression by the Trump administration, especially trans people and migrants

While our public-facing work is done through working groups, our internal work to keep things operating behind the scenes happens through our functional groups. Here's a brief description of each of our current functional groups:

• Political Education - planning reading groups, classes, guest speakers, and educational materials
• Outreach & Engagement - event planning, membership engagement, outreach, mutual aid
• Budget & Finance - planning fundraising efforts, managing merchandise, helping find a chapter office
• Comms Crew - social media, newsletter, etc.
• Tech Squad - website updates, managing self-hosted platforms, etc.

Preliminary Working Groups

These working groups are in the preliminary stages. That means they are not official working groups of the chapter yet, but they are in the beginning stages of forming a working group. Once enough members have expressed interest and can commit to keeping the work going for it, they can be presented to the Steering Committee for approval to become official working groups.

Note: Currently our migrant justice work is done through our Trans Rights & Bodily Autonomy (TRBA) working group. We have added it here to see if there is interest in forming it as a separate working group, in order to not overload the TRBA working group.
